Jabra Halo

Jabra HALO, a wireless Bluetooth stereo headset made by GN Netcom, looks very cool and sporty with its over-the-head design. The headband is foldable and almost as large as the earpieces. To switch the device on just unfold it, and, correspondingly, to fold the headset means to turn it off. You can adjust the size of this headset by extending the length of the headband. The left/right wearing indicators inside the headband are there for your help. Most people will find it very convenient in wearing, especially taking into account its weight of 3 oz.

The connectivity status and battery juice that is left can be seen in a humble display. Touch volume control is another trendy feature. Ah, almost forgot, the headset sports Zirene® Power Bass for audio enhancement, Noise-Blackout technology and dual microphones for you to speak distortion-free.

Jabra Halo

Make conversations in clear sound, and thanks to A2DP enjoy wireless music (approximately 6-8 hours, not too much I should say). The passkey is 0000. You can use it with MP3 players, laptops, TVs and all the 3.5 mm music playing devices as well, but it's not so interesting, eh? In this case the Bluetooth features (including receiving calls) are disabled.

Standby time – 13 days. Charging time is approximately 2h. You can use the Jabra HALO during recharge.

Halo works fine with PS3, iMac, iPhone and has become my favorite for iPad music and game sounds. Skype on iPad insisted on using inbuilt mike and speaker but current Skype app is for iPhone so update may fix.

Windows 7 support is all dependent on your Bluetooth drivers, and stereo support which is not in the shipping Microsoft drivers. Ie try to get updated driver from manufacture of your hardware. I have gotten it to work but don't plan on it if you are buying it.

I had no problem getting the Halo to work with my Blackberry Tour. In fact it works great. I can be listening to music and when a call comes in it pauses the music and switches to telephony mode.

Getting it work with my notebook is a totally different story. I can get it working with Windows Media Player and with Skype but the headset seems to shut down the blue tooth connection every couple minutes which is aggravating. At that point I have to shut down the application, start the BT application in the Control panel and manually reconnect to the computer. A couple times I had to re-pair the computer and Halo. Using Skype was one of my primary purposes so I am very disappointed. Specially since it works wo well with my Blackberry.

I have just bought a HALO.
Not impressed. It has no manual, no drivers and no web support.
I spent all evening just getting it paired with my phones and PC.
But it doesn't take or make calls, or play music.
Nice concept --- unworkable implementation...
