A headset of Canadian company Helium Digital is available in either black or white. There are two kinds of this product: the HDBT-700 and HDBT-750. The HDBT-700 is just a headset itself, and the HDBT-750 is the same headset plus Bluetooth stereo transmitter, so you'll be able to perform connection via 3.5mm audio input jack in case you have no Bluetooth enabled device. By the way, there exist one more headphones, looking similarly to Helium – Mavintec MBSH-C3.2.

Calls

Being able to stay paired with two devices simultaneously, this headset allows you to answer/reject/dial/redial calls when it is connected to the music source and to the phone at the same time. The song will automatically pause and you'll hear a ring tone reporting the incoming call. After the conversation is over, your music will automatically resume playing.

Design vs Sound

The headphones are really lightweight (only 50g), but maybe too tight – it's enough for me to feel some discomfort, whereas most users, having no suffering at all, claim them to be very comfortable for a long periods of time. People greatly appreciate the size and weight, especially comparing to Motorola HT-820s. The headphones have trendy behind-the-neck design, but they fit not very good (maybe it's the fault of my head), that's why a lot of sound goes out having not entered the ears, so you are missing the whole richness of music (especially in noisy places) and your neighbors are listening to the music instead of you. Also the sound quality depends greatly on the kind of the paired device, you may turn out to be almost exclusively unlucky. And to tell you the truth, after my big favorite Koss with wire connection, the sound of HDBT-750 sometimes reminds of a car without shock absorbers. But maybe I'm too captious, because in all the responses users are jumping for joy being happy with the sound.

Good

A big advantage is that they never skip, if you don't go too far from the paired device. But if you stay near the microwave oven while warming your dinner up, the headphone stutter awfully. The range is standard 8 m. Pairing is easy, just follow the instructions of the manual how to start, and then you can perform it intuitively. The red and blue light indicators will help you to pair your devices, they show Turn in/off status and the battery state as well. The blue light is flashing all the time while playing. Thanks God, the light indicator is quite small and only on the right earpiece, it is not so annoying as the ones of Jabra BT 620 and Motorolla HT-820s!

Buttons

All the control buttons and microphone are located on the right earpiece. The set of music controls is typical – Volume Up/Down, Next/Previous track, Pause/Play. You have to use the same central Pause/Play button to answer, reject and end the call, as well as to Turn on/off, Stop and Pair the headset. For some people it is not very convenient. By the way, you can use Next / Previous controls only when the headphones are directly connected to a device that supports the AVRCP profile via Bluetooth, but not through the audio output jack via a transmitter.

Functionality

The headset supports both the AVRCP and A2DP (Stereo) Bluetooth profiles. It has Echo elimination and Noise suppression built in, and supports Voice Dial possibilities if your phone allows such function. Rechargeable Lithium Ion battery with 7 hours of battery life is also built in. But their FAQ warns: “Leaving the headset plugged in for an extended period of time after it has been fully charged may slowly drain the battery of it's fully charged status. Please ensure the unit is powered off while charging, and unplugged once the unit has been fully charged.”

To sum up, the headset is good, especially for those who enjoy over-the-ear design. It is nice and lightweight, so the decision is up to you.

Did you know?
FreeTek EG100 watch phone
FreeTek released the EG100 watch phone. Currently such a gadget is to catch on, as I see. If you are not against changing a mobile phone to this dubious device, you'll be interested that the EG100 offers an audio and video playback and has an integrated FM radio. The internal memory differs from 512MB to 2GB. The watch phone supports A2DP, by the way. Looks nice... That's all I can say.
