This time I've tested Sonorix C3 made by Satechi, and now going to share my experience. I've never tested the headset of clip-on type before, now let's see what I've learnt.

Design. When I opened the box with Sonorix C3, I was surprised to see its real size. The headset is really small and weightless. It looks much smarter than on the Internet pics. The design is simple and even ascetic. The clip-on style of wearing means that you have to clip the headset onto your clothing. But it is better for men in suit. As I prefer pullovers there is no place to clip it onto but a belt of jeans (though, in this case the wire appears to be rather short).

Sonorix C3Sophisticated audiophiles will be glad that the headphones are removable. You can insert your own favorite huge DJ headphones, if you wish. Besides, due to built-in mic you will receive calls even with your own headphones. I personally like the in-ear headphones to be worn on the street: they are great for cold seasons, do not interfere with my style and don't spoil my hairdo.

Buttons. There are only 3 control buttons – Volume up, Volume down (these buttons can change tracks as well) and middle Multi-Function Button (MFB) to Play/Pause tracks, Stop playing and for Pairing. Calls are managed with the same buttons. At the beginning when I started to increase volume it resulted in changing track, because I pressed The Volume button too long instead of short clicking. But then I got accustomed to this button.

As you may know, I prefer headsets with a separate on/off button. It is the case. This button is located at the back of the headset, and doesn't impede me. Very handy.

Display. The headset has an OLED display that shows nothing while playing. Nothing flashes or blinks, and nothing attracts attention. But as you switch it on, you will see 3 icons on the display – status of Audio Connection, Handsfree Connection and Battery level. Also it shows the Volume while adjusting it.

You will charge the C3 via USB. The OLED display shows Charging in the process, and after the battery is full the Charged will appear. Battry life is 5.4 h.

Sonorix C3

In total you need display mostly for calls. It shows who's calling and all the things you do: Transferred (while making call), Redialing, Voice Dialing, Call Rejected, Call Waited, Mic. Muted, Connecting, Call Ended (you'll see call time duration).

By the way, the display window is invertible. You can clip on the headset as you like and not read end for end.

Sound and range. In the beginning I tested it with Palm TX. From the first minutes of listening I noticed an awful skipping. I was greatly disappointed, but then I found out that drop-outs appear when I stand between the music source and the C3 – no matter how far I go, even if the Palm lays on my table. To be fair, you can read the warning about it in the User Manual. So the solution is to keep a music source in the bag or pocket on the nearest side to the C3, or not to turn your back upon this gadget. Of course I know it is a problem of most headsets of such a type, but I've used to test headphones of another wearing type. The headsets of behind-the-neck or over-the head type don't have this problem. On the other hand, in the C3 radio module is located far from your head (due to the wire), this fact can be an important factor for those who is afraid of RF radiation.

Sonorix C3

Next day I switched the headset and connected it to my TX with Audio Gateway. The sound just disappeared after several seconds of playing and resumed after half of minute. Almost every move caused such behavior. After some time things got better, but still... But then I recalled that I set the Audio Gateway settings on the best quality. Aha, it is it! After I set the medium quality, the skipping disappeared. It is info for Audio Gateway users: go to Device --> Configure and change the Output bitrate and Quality levels. As I can see, there is no buffering in the C3, that's why the higher is bitrate, the more skipping. I hope in future revisions of the C3 this drawback will be fixed.

And, by the way, AVRCP works great with Audio Gateway.

Advantages: after such stuttering I was surprised to hear such a good sound quality. Even though the C3 is so small, the middles and highs are juicy and bright. But beware of songs of poor quality – low bitrate is revealed at once, and distortion appears. Basses are really profound for a little headphones from the package. If you need something deeper take your own huge ones, but anyway C3 bass won't smash your head (it's warning in case you are rapper and like basses to go through your body :)). All in all, I like the sound quality. I was able to hear all the subtleties (the songs while testing had a bitrate 320kbps).

The range with Palm TX is 6m.

Then I tested C3 with BlueSoleil installed on my desktop computer. The range differed considerably. The Bluetooth connection was much more stable, and I noticed drop-outs only when I went too far from a music source. I even stood between my PC and the headset and it didn't entail the sound skipping. Such behaviour was easy to predict, though. The Bluetooth connection depends not only on the headset, but on the sound source device and signal strength too. But most people buy a headset to use it with a mobile phone, wich results in a weaker Bluetooth connection - otherwise the handheld battery would live too short life.

Sonorix C3Calls. The C3 pairs and connects up to 2 Bluetooth devices simultaneously, for example to a music source, such as mp3 player or speakers, and to a mobile phone. It can remember 4 and more A2DP devices.

When someone called me, I could hear the beeps in my headset (the music was going on) and my mobile phone ringed too. As I answered the call, the music stopped, and after the call was ended music resumed. But if I press the End call button before my partner does it, the music resumes not always.

I heard some little distortion, but the caller voice was loud and my voice sounded clear too (as I was told).

In the package you will find the C3 headset, earphone set, AC/DC Adapter for charging, USB cable and User manual.

That's all, folks. Tell us about your experience with this headset!

Did you know?
Samsin SBS-6600 Wireless Speakers
Samsin presents wireless speakers, indeed wireless - there is no cable even between the two of speakers themselves - you can place them in different ends of room as you want. Very light, and with a casing of high quality. The right speaker has a dual-purpose power and Bluetooth pairing button, track and volume controls. The left-hand channel only has a power button; it will automatically connect to the right speaker on turning on and then shut off after a short period of disconnection. The play-time is 6 hours, stand-by time is 360 hours.
