Well, I've finished Lubix NC1 testing (the review is here, if you haven't read it yet) and now I'm testing LC1. Many LC1 parameters are the same as of NC1, and I don't think it is worth to repeat the same information, such as info about pairing, charging and package contents. Like NC1, LC1 allows making and receiving phone calls, and resumes music playback after the call is ended. The LC1 also has a brand new possibility to choose between Normal mode and 4 types of 3D sound effect. It is of the same pendant style. An adjustable cord connects two halves of headset and when not in use they are held together with magnet, creating a pendant. You can wear it on the neck, then separate headset halves, insert into ears and start listening to music. As for the controls, they are absolutely identical to ones of NC1, but are placed in the front side of an earpiece, while NC1's buttons are in the back surface, closer to back of the head. And in the back surface of LC1 there is On/Off slider.

Sound. The test conditions were the same: Pocket Tunes on Palm TX and Softick Audio Gateway 1.15 version. I've noticed considerable distortion in highs and the strange thing that some songs sound good, and other (even tracks from the same album with the same bitrate 320 kbps and “energy”) are hoarse. But you can try to fight it by changing the 3D mode. I was listening to Linkin Park and one track suddenly gave awful distortion. I was very upset, but then I tried to play with different 3D modes and learned, that this problem was most evident in XOME, one of my favorites. By the way, in Live there is no distortion at all. The range is just satisfactory, the wall is a formidable obstacle for this headset. And while NC1's skipping was just occasional and very rare, LC1 is very exposed to interference of other gadgets. Advantages. Good things: perfect pairing (the memory of the headset is more than 2 devices) and instant connection. During tests I had to switch between LC1 and NC1 very often, and it caused me absolutely no disturbance. I'm not afraid to do it even in overcrowded subway. Next, controls are perfect: no crazy nasty buttons as in Moto S9, no confusion – after an hour you'll perform the control intuitively, off the top of your head. The headphones are more comfortable than you will think before using them. They look too big to wear them right in the ears with no clips or something. But my ears haven't suffered. I've tried all the eartips and found the best ones for me. I like the possibility to improve song quality by choosing the most appropriate mode of sound processing. LCD is so nice! And so helpful! I was tangled in those 3D functions while studying NC1, so I learned them with the help of LC1 display, because it shows type of 3D sound effect. And it is very handy while pairing and connecting. Moreover, the display shows information about volume level (up to 15), battery status and phone number. But you will see all this info only if you press control buttons, there is no merry flashing and shining in you ears all the time (just a small LED is blinking). And the last, but not the least: the style of wearing is one of the best between all the headsets on the market. I like classic over-the-head (or DJ) design, but I would never wear such headphones outside my home. Lubix are the first headphones I like to wear outdoors – they are stylish and no-one will filch them. Some people say they look odd like I'm wearing two Bluetooth headsets, and one girl just started to laugh when she caught sight of me; but others say I look cool, and I agree with them entirely ;) Well, once again: LC1 vs. NC1 (NC1 review read here). Firstly, I like NC1's size most, because they look more naturally when in ears; LC1 sit in ears more firmly, but remind about some strange earrings and seem a bit less comfortable after a while. The big advantage of LC1 I consider to be the LCD screen that not only shows caller ID and current function, but also helps while pairing. Moreover, its operating time is considerably greater. NC1 played 5h, and LC1 managed to play 9h (the same time as stated in specifications). The range of LC1 is 8 m, and of NC1 is 9m (according to our tests). NC1 have better BT connection, other devices in range create less interference, and the NC1's sound in total is much better; there is more distortion of highs on LC1. But both headsets are worth your attention. I think you will never regret buying them. |
