BlueSoleil is a Windows-based software from IVT that allows your Bluetooth-enabled computer to connect wirelessly to other Bluetooth-enabled devices, in our case to an A2DP-headset. Platform Requirement - CPU: 600MHz or above
- RAM: 128M or above
- Screen: 800*600 or above
- OS: Windows 2000, Windows XP
Now let's see how we can install BlueSoleil and then connect your headset to it.
Firstly, go to BlueSoleil website and download the latest version (and buy it). There exist a trial time that offers one minute of audio playback. You will need a Bluetooth dongle. Some dongles already contain BlueSoleil drivers – in this case you don't need to download it, but some of dongles have Widcomm or Toshiba drivers, and not always fresh versions. Before BlueSoleil installation, delete all the other previously installed Bluetooth software. And restart your computer after new software installation is complete. To remove Microsoft native driver, do the following. Check whether you have enabled viewing of hidden/system files: - Press Windows key + 'e' key at the same time, and Windows Explorer will pops up
- Click on Tools (Menubar) -> Folder Options... -> View (Tab)
- Enable “Show hidden files and folders”
- Uncheck “Hide extensions for known file types”
- Uncheck “Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)”, click Yes or OK in answer to warning
- Click OK to exit.
In C:\ Drive, Windows directory, 'inf' folder you will find two files: bth.inf & bth.pnf. Rename them to bth.inf.old & bth.pnf.old (confirming with the pop up box). You have to left click to highlight the file and press F2 to change the filename. In the end restart your PC. More info how to remove Bluetooth wireless device support in Windows XP Service Pack 2 read here. Now, with Bluetooth activated (it is important to insert a dongle before you install BlueSoleil!) start the application. Click on the icon or go to Start -->Programs-->IVT BlueSoleil -->BlueSoleil. Then set your headset into a pairing mode (if you don't now how to do it consult the User Guide of your headset) and click on the orange “sun” - the central circle on the main screen of BlueSoleil. As the application finds your headset, you'll see an information about it on the screen. If no remote devices were found, try to do all this again. In the future all the devices ever connected will be shown on the orbit. Choose the device you need (in our case – Bluetooth Stereo headset) by single-clicking on it – its icon will become yellow. When the device is connected to your PC, the icon turns green. And you can connect a lot of devices at once – BlueSoleil can show only 8 devices, but you can use the scroll bar to view the rest of discovered devices. Well, you've chosen the headset, the program has asked you a passkey (usually 0000), and now your devices are paired. As you have paired your headset with your PC (the icon is yellow), right-click the mouse and choose Connect -->Bluetooth AV Service:
The application will connect the headset to your PC (the icon will become green). Now, enjoy your wireless music. Just don't forget to go to Control Panel of your PC, visit Sounds and Audio Devices and in Sound Playback set Bluotooth AV Audio as Default device. You can enhance the A2DP quality, if you wish. In the downloaded BlueSoleil application find a file btav.ini (go to IVT Corporation/BlueSoleil/btav.ini) and change settings to: [A2DPSBC] FS=44100 CHANNELMODE=joint stereo MAXBITPOOL=48 MINBITPOOL=48 BLOCKS=16 SUBBANDS=8 ALLOC_METHORD=LOUDNESS You have to restart the computer after changing settings. Now it's done. You can share your experience in our Forum. |
